St. Peter’s Hospital ALS Regional Center nominates Tim Fecura for his countless hours at the Cherry Blossom 5K Run and Walk for Hope. As Race Director and committee organizer for the past 10 years, he has lead those in raising over eighty thousand dollars, which proudly benefits the ALS Center.
Fecura’s positive attitude and can-do spirit, allows him to act as liaison between the Congregation Gates of Heaven Brotherhood, the race committee, and the ALS Center. He manages all aspects of the fundraising including handling the budget, insurance, working with both the Niskayuna and Schenectady police departments and town boards, soliciting sponsorships and donations, marketing the event through newspaper ads and local media stations, managing the event volunteers, designing tee-shirts, and so much more. He also works directly with the Center’s ALS families to help develop teams of runners and walkers.

Fecura’s compassionate, contagious energy ignites others including his wife and family in their desire to volunteer in needed areas of the race. For Fecura, this home town event is all about community and helping those within it.
The important revenue raised has allowed the ALS Center to purchase much needed medical and communication equipment that is loaned free of charge to ALS patients and families. These funds have also supported ALS patients and families with much needed medical and emotional support and, but mostly enables the staff and volunteers to act as a compass in guiding those through the very challenging decisions and fears and losses that ALS brings.
We salute and honor Tim Fecura for his compassionate heart and many, many hours of philanthropic work!
