Women's Choice Award
Women’s Choice Award for Obstetrics
St. Peter’s Hospital has received the Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics in 2016 and 2017. The hospital was awarded for its superior clinical excellence in obstetrics, on-site level three NICU, top scores on female patient satisfaction surveys and high recommendation ratings. The Women’s Choice seal signifies our staff’s dedication to providing maternity care that is tailored to the unique needs of mothers and their baby.

The St. Peter's Cancer Care Center was named one of America's Best Hospitals for Cancer Care by the Womens Choice Award® 2017.U.S. News & World Report
U.S. News & World Report (USN&WR) has awarded St. Peter’s Hospital (SPH) its highest ranking in northeastern New York and one of the highest in New York state for excellent quality of care. (2016-2017).
In rating nearly 5,000 hospitals nationally on key indicators of patient care, the magazine placed St. Peter’s Hospital 12th among nearly 250 hospitals in New York state and the highest in northeastern New York state.
St. Peter’s Hospital had 10 adult specialties, adult procedures and conditions singled out as “high performing” – gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, hip replacement, knee replacement, COPD, colon cancer surgery, aortic valve surgery, and pulmonology.
A Magnet Hospital for Nursing
St. Peter's has been awarded the nation's highest honor for excellence in nursing-the Magnet Hospital designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Only 350 institutions, or 6.2 percent of all hospitals nationwide, have earned this distinction. St. Peter's is the first hospital in the region to be re-designated under new, tougher standards required by the ANCC.
A Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospital
Led by a premier team of cardiac surgeons, vascular surgeons and cardiologists, St. Peter's Cardiac & Vascular Center is a Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospital; the only ten-time recipient of this award in the northeastern U.S.
Blue Distinction® Award for Treatment of Complex and Rare Cancers
Nationally accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, St. Peter's Cancer Care Department has earned several national and state honors. The latest honor is from Blue Shield which has given St. Peter's its first Blue Distinction® Award for the Treatment of Complex and Rare Cancers. St. Peter's is the only health care facility in the Capital Region and one of only 85 cancer care centers in the nation to receive the award.
A Designated Heart and Stroke Emergency Center
St. Peter's has been named A Designated Heart and Stroke Emergency center by the New York State Department of Health.
Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
St. Peter's has also won excellent ratings from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO); the New York State Department of Health; MVP Health Care; and, the Alliance for Quality Healthcare, a statewide coalition of businesses and health care payers.
