Audiology & Hearing Aids
At St. Peter's Hospital, audiologists provide comprehensive care from diagnosis to rehabilitation and are committed to working with other professionals to make sure hearing problems are reduced.
Evaluations include: universal hearing screenings for all newborns prior to discharge, pure tone testing, speech audiometry, middle ear analysis, electrophysiological tests, sound field testing, central auditory processing screening, hearing aid evaluations and tinnitus evaluations. We have special expertise in pediatric and difficult-to-test persons.

The audiologists can prescribe, fit, sell and evaluate hearing aids. Audiologists also educate and advocate for assistive listening devices (ALDs) to enhance communication clarity in public areas, such as classrooms. Also, St. Peter's is the region's leading dispenser of the TransEar hearing device for people with unilateral deafness. For many patients with unilateral deafness, TransEar provides an alternative to a surgically-implanted hearing device.
St. Peter's participates in Hearing Access, a special, hospital-wide program that provides communication access for patients with hearing impairment. In-house ALDs include personal amplifiers and specially designed telephones for hearing impaired persons.
